We live in a world where social inequality is very prevalent, especially with issues regarding race, class, and sexual orientation.

Social differences exist because a society cannot thrive on mere black and white: there needs to be a continuum of all different groups of people. It is impossible to eliminate all matters of -ism because identities are what shape us.

New York City and Greencastle, Indiana are on quite opposite end of the spectrum.  Although I do feel very privileged in attending DePauw University, Greencastle pose its challenge, especially in terms of sexual orientation.  To overcome such silence, dialogues need to exist, but it will courage to make a stand…it will not be easy, but it will definitely be worthwhile for those in the dark.
